High Strength Weathering Steel Angles. ASTM A588 and A709-50W corrosion-resistant and high-strength steel angles are available in the various sizes listed.
A572 steel is available in five different grades: 42, 50, 55, 60, and 65. Each grade number indicates the yield strength of this high strength, low alloy steel. Its multiple favorable properties make it a staple for construction applications. One of the most commonly used A572 grades is A572-50.
For ASTM A572 Gr.50/55/60/65 angle’s transportation operations, it provides added payload capacity with lower increase in equipment weight, so that to reduce operating costs. ASTM A572 Gr.50/55/60/65 angle can also be used in the construction of bridges and buildings.
Characteristics. ASTM A572 is also available in grades 42, 55, 60 and 65. This specification provides for a 50ksi MPA [345}] minimum yield strength and 65ksi minimum tensile strength. The higher tensile strength of A572-50 allows reduction of section thickness and weight when manufacturing parts, lowering the overall weight of the part.

ASTM A572 is also available in grades 42, 55, 60 and 65. Applications A572-50 is used in transportation and other applications that require increased strength at a lower weight.
ASTM A572 Specification refers to High-Strength Low-Alloy Steel Plate for structural building, among the 5 steel grades of 42, 50, 55, 60 and 65, Grade 50 is one most common steel in applications where need more strength and less weight, use steel plate of this grade other than ordinary carbon steel will make the steel structure with same steel strength but lighter weight.
This specification is produced in Grades 42, 50, 55, 60 & 65, the grades representing the yield strength. Plates that are 4” and thicker are made to a 42 KSI yield, although material can be modified to …
ASTM A572-65. ASTM A572-65 is a high strength low-alloy columbium-vanadium structural steel. This specification provides for a 65ksi minimum yield strength and an 80ksi minimum tensile strength. The primary application for ASTM A572-65 is galvanized transmission and lighting poles.
Grade 50 is a high strength, low alloy steel that finds its best application where there is need for more strength per unit of weight. Less of this material is needed to fulfill given strength requirements than is necessary with regular carbon steels.
